A series of images by the premiere photographer of the region, including views of Banff, Lake Louise and The Chateau, Victoria Glacier, Mount Lefroy, The Spiral Tunnels, The Kicking Horse Canyon (with a steaming locomotive coming down the railroad tracks), The Three Sisters, Mt. Stephen, Cascade Mountain and the Reflection Pool, and other scenic wonders of the Canadian Rockies. The sepia gravures have been colored mainly in soft tones. An uncommon book.
Harmon's photographs drew attention to and popularized the Canadian Rockies as a destination, somewhat the same way the photographs of Carleton Watkins, William Henry Jackson, and others exposed a mass audience to the magnificence of the American West. In 1984 a book was published by the Peter amd Catharine Whyte Foundation on Harmon's life and photographic work entitled Great Days in the Rockies: The Photographs of Byron Harmon, 1906 - 1934.
