James Dean Revisited. Text and Photographs by Dennis Stock. A Studio Book/ The Viking Press, New York, 1978. First edition. Small quarto. Cloth in photo-illustrated dustjacket. 128 pp.
In an intimate book, Dennis Stock presents a portrait of his friend, the legendary James Dean, years after the actor's tragic death in a car crash. Stock had photographed the star in his hometown of Fairmount, Indiana, in New York, and in Hollywood. The images and text emphasize the Everyman side of Dean without disspelling the legend.
Dennis Stock began his photographic career as an apprentice to Gjon Mili
in 1947 and joined Magnum in 1951. His other books include Jazz Street and California Trip.
A fine copy in a very good dustjacket; the dustjacket has only light edge rubbing and three minor edge-tears (two with accompanying small creases).
In clear glassine.
