In Pursuit of Clouds: Images and Metaphors. Photographs by Ralph Steiner. Introduction by Charles Chetham. Essay, 'How I Make My Cloud Photographs,' by Steiner. Hardbound. Oblong quarto. Photo-illustrated dust jacket. Numerous black-and-white reproductions. University of New Mexico Press, Albuquerque, 1985. 102 pp.

Ralph Steiner photographed clouds over a fifteen-year period. For him, looking at clouds was an exercise in visualization. In addition to Steiner's stunning cloud images, viewer's reactions to the clouds in the form of proposed titles are included at the end of each section. The different sections on clouds as "the big sky," creatures, celebrations, dreams, magic, and signs and portents illustrate how clouds can capture the full range of emotions. An appendix on tips for photographing clouds, gleaned from Steiner's years of experience, is included for those technically inclined.

Some minor rubbing to dust jacket; very slight bump to corner of front board; otherwise Fine.
