Tom Baril. 4AD, Los Angeles, 1997. Small Quarto. First Edition. Dark brown, silk-like cloth over boards with a tritone image tipped onto front cover. No dustjacket as issued. 176 pp., 81 tritone illustrations.
This sumptuous volume is the first monograph of Tom Baril's work and the first, and thus far only monograph by a 4AD. These images, meticulously printed in tritone, are a remarkable translation of the artist's original platinum prints. This monograph presents a range of Baril's work, including beautiful still lifes and serene, other-worldly cityscapes.
Only 2,500 copies were printed. Exquisitely designed by Paul McMenamin. Tritone negatives were made by Robert Hennessy from the original prints. Printed by Allethaire Press on Monadnock Dulcet paper.
A beautiful copy, Very Fine.
