THIS LOT CONSISTS OF TWO BOOKS BY A. AUBREY BODINE: My Maryland, 1952 (shown), and The Face of Maryland, 1961.
My Maryland. A. Aubrey Bodine. Camera Magazine, Baltimore, 1952. First edition. Large quarto. Photo-illustrated cloth. 128 pp. More than one hundred seventy high-quality warmtone photographs show why Maryland had earned the reputation of being 'America in Miniature' and why Bodine was on his way to eatblishing an international reputation. Bodine was born in Maryland and spent most of his career photographing the state from its eastern shores to the Appalachians in the western part of the state, from the air and from the Chesapeake Bay and the ocean offshore, and always with the understanding and feeling of a native son. A fine copy.
The Face of Maryland. A. Aubrey Bodine. Bodine & Associates, Baltimore, 1961. First edition. Large quarto. Photo-illustrated cloth. 144 pp. Bodine travelled the state as the photographic director of The Sunday Sun Magazine, taking fine images of all aspects of life. His images of ocean tankers in the shipyards and ports and of smaller sailing vessels at sea are particularly worthy and have been shown in exhibitions of Bodine's artistic work. Near fine copy, with just a bit of wear to corner tips and extremities of spine.
