One of the surprisingly few nineteenth century photographic dictionaries, it was an important reference for photographers at the time of its publication.
It contains numerous entries from 'albertype' to 'zincography,' which are elucidated with charts, diagrams, and formulas. The E. & H. T. Anthony Company sold photographic equipment and images, as well as being the publisher of the most important series of American nineteenth century technical photographic books. E.J. Wall was to become a prolific writer on photographic topics; his subsequent books include The Photographic Darkroom, Carbon Printing, and The History of Three Color Photography.
A very good copy, with a half-inch snag in the cloth on the lower spine; front inner hinge cracked but holding and back hinge tender. Name of former owner in ink on front endpaper. Interior is very clean. In protective glassine. |
