Wynn Bullock. Text by Barbara Bullock. With Notes by the Photographer. Scrimshaw Press, San Francisco, 1971. First edition. Large quarto. Grey cloth with mounted photographic illustration; original clear plastic dustjacket. Unpaged.
This handsomely produced first monograph on Wynn Bullock has yet to be surpassed as the best retrospective book of his work; the images are arranged by decade. His keen, ceaseless observation of nature resulted in sensual and often awesome images. Beautifully printed in double-impression offset lithography.
Wynn Bullock studied photography at the Los Angeles Art Center School in the late 1930's. Edward Weston and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy were among the photographers whose inspiration he acknowledged.
A fine copy in the original clear plastic acetate; bookplate of former owner on front pastedown. A slight ripple to top or bottom edge of some text pages.
