"The book CHECKED BAGGAGE: 3264 prohibited items was one of my graduation projects at the Design Academy in Eindhoven where I graduated last summer.
I bought all the objects that were searched from the hand luggage of over 600,000 passengers that travel through Schiphol Airport during one week: one square meter of terrorist weaponry. I categorized the objects, took pictures of every one of them and put them in a book that shows an inventory of these 3264 items. A bizarre collection of products that are seen as potentially terrorists weaponry worldwide (since 11th of September) but are actually mostly ordinary utensils.
With this book I wanted to show how fear is sometimes translated in idiotic security measures. Do I really need to be protected of someone who is carrying children's cutlery in his bag?"--Christien Meindertsma br>
