London. Text by G.K. Chesterton. Ten photographs by Alvin Langdon Coburn. Privately printed for Edmund D. Brooks and Alvin Langdon Coburn & their friends, Minneapolis, 1914. 15 pp text + plates. Uncut pages. First edition, first impression. Original linen-backed boards, cloth spine, titles to spine and front board in black. 10 mounted plates by Coburn printed by the Mezzogravure Company.

This slim, elegant volume was a collaboration between Coburn and G.K. Chesterton, one of the most charismatic and prolific figures in the London literary scene of the early twentieth century. It represents the kinds of tasteful projects Coburn took on once he was established in London. By this time, his earlier, hazy pictorialism was beginning to resolve into sharper resolution and more strikingly Modernist diagonal compositions.

About Fine; some faint smudging to boards; a bit of tanning to spine and endpapers, with some minor fraying at head; a few spots of scattered foxing.
