A classic document of youthful rebellion that should be included alongside iconic photobooks by Larry Clark (Teenage Lust & Tulsa); Jim Goldberg (Raised by Wolves) and, more recently, Corinne Day (Diary) and Mike Brodie (Period of Juvenile Prosperity) in any collection devoted to the theme of 'alienated youth'. Document Miseinen [Document Teenagers] was published as volume 12 in the Seven Mook Magazine series (made famous by Kohei Yoshiyuki's >Document Kouen (which is volume 4). It is divided into three sections: the first two devoted to teen sex, prostitution, and smoking, and the third to the bosozoku (bikers' gangs). The rough-grainy-out-of-focus Post-Provoke style here becomes a perfect verité aesthetic vehicle for portraying teenage angst and anomie.
