Using mostly direct flash with color film, Mark produced an important work documenting the lives of women and transvestites on Falkland Road, a street in Bombay where prostitutes live and work in cage-like brothels. Befriending several prostitutes, Mark was able to enter into their world and photograph without the usual hostile grimace. The excellent color reproductions are sharp, crisp and deeply saturated.
