A Cloud of Black Smoke: Photographs From Turkey 1968-72. Edited by Halil. Focuskop Fotoform, Stockholm, 2007. 160 pp. Small quarto (28 x 21 cm.) SIGNED on colophon page. Hardbound in photo-illustrated dust jacket. Black-and-white reproductions.

Winner of the Discovery Award (Prix de la decouverte) at the Rencontres d'Arles Fotofestival. Included in Parr & Badger, The Photobook: A History. Volume III
Stark, shocking and touching images documenting the violence of the Turkish military dictatorship against demonstrators during the 1968 uprisings. Halil has clearly studied Koudelka's Prague 1968 photos among others, but has fashioned a unique document that reflects the particularity of the Turkish situation.

Fine in Fine- dust jacket; slight edge wear.
