‘Buchs’ is a reference to four cities bearing the same name in the Swiss cantons St. Gallen, Zurich, Aargau and Lucerne. Presented here are four different tales – four books for four Buchs – that address the ordinary daily life of a young woman who appears to be both a single person and many figures at once, and whose identity is left unclear. Nothing special happens. With texts and images that are similar but not the same, the four books tell a related but not identical story about “non-events” that take place during a single day. The writing is simple, with a personal and observational tone, and the images are beautifully captured everyday moments.
