Directed by Larry Clark.
Muse Productions, Los Angeles, 2001.
Larry Clark returns to Kids territory with this film about an abusive relationship between two Florida teens that finally blows apart in violence. The abused party in the 'friendship' teams up with other acquaintances to plot the murder of the boy who has tormented him for years. The teens depicted in Bully are even more vacuous and driven by sex and narcotics than in Clark's notorious debut, and the sex scenes are even more explicit. But Bully takes a turn that led some to believe Clark intended it as a dark comedy, and others to believe that he simply lost control of the tone. Decide for yourself. With Brad Renfro, Bijou Phillips, Rachel Miner, and Nick Stahl in an impressive turn as the bully.
