"I began to listen to jazz at age 15, introduced to the new sounds by my Uncle Charlie, an accomplished drummer. As I grew older I found the sounds of jazz were not only joyful but had a healing effect. At the beginning of my photographic career I was fortunate to photograph the up and coming jazz musicians, as well as those established legends of the jazz world like Dizzy, Duke, and Miles. I find jazz and photography are both strong and visceral forces in furthering unity and understanding."

Refreshing Work by Mark Citret
An exuberant dash through a summer fountain is captured by Mark Citret in his "silver vellum" print, International Fountain #2, Seattle, 1999. Citret beautifully defines the water's delicate tonalities by printing on an obscure, now discontinued Kodak paper with a vellum-like surface. For further information please e-mail Wendy Lewis, Gallery Director.

Mario Cravo Neto: Laroye Mario Cravo Neto: Laróyè
"The tropical port city of Salvador, in Bahia, is one of Brazil's largest urban regions, and one of its poorest. It is also home of the Yoruba candomble, a religious practice of the African Diaspora in Brazil, and the purest source of Yoruban culture in the Americas. Mario Cravo Neto reveals a previously unknown aspect of his work in Laróyè: stunning color photographs of the people and places of his native Bahia."—the publisher.
