Doug Keyes
A powerful blending of the conceptual with arresting visual beauty, these works by Doug Keyes are color photographs of open books. Keyes creates these pieces by making up to 20 exposures of different pages from a single book on one piece of film. The resulting image is luminous, transparent and three dimensional. The text within the pages of the books is incomprehesible from the bluriness yet the photographs offer the possibility of grasping the book's entirety in a single reading.
