Peter E. Palmquist: 1936-2003
"On Saturday, January 11, 2003, Peter Palmquist was struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking his dog Max near his finacee Pam Mendelsohn's apartment in Emeryville, California. Peter Palmquist was known to all in the photo history world as the Dean of California photo historians. Far beyond that informal title, he was a leading authority on the history of the photography of the West and on women in photography worldwide. Peter was a giant in our world, a meticulous, caring, ubiquitous dynamo of activity and information who cast treasure after treasure into our community."—Carl Mautz

Tamaki Obuchi's new portfolio Utakata
"Our ancestors had an understanding about the sense of shogyo mujo of Buddhism; everything on earth is impermanent and nothing remains unchanged. However they never denied the visual charm of physical beauty, and loved it dearly. They knew well that human life was also fragile and fleeting, and so they had a sympathy with the ephemeral beauty on this earth."—Tamaki Obuchi |

Spezial Fotografie: Karl Lagerfeld.
It is Lagerfeld's creative concept of fleetingness that bestows the genuineness of immediacy, but not eternity on all his fashion and photography work. Or as he puts it: "The nostalgia of the moment with no retrospection."
