Frank Grisdale's new portfolio
"When working on my images I often think about the root meaning for the word 'Photography', which is 'Drawing with Light'. I am shooting to create images which reference, in a modern way, the early Impressionist painters. I am reducing and softening the focus on life's fine details."—Frank Grisdale

Karl Blossfeldt
Karl Blossfeldt photographed isolated plant forms from 1898 to 1930 and used the images he created as a teaching aid in his drawing classes at the Berlin College of Art. This exceptional photogravure, Forsythia suspensa, is one of the astonishing organic forms published in the first edition of Art Forms in Nature (1928), his extremely influential first book. Two young photographers meet, fall deeply in love, and decide to document on film the intimacy that rapidly evolves. "It is neither meant to shock nor pander to casual exhibitionism. It is, rather an honest attempt to reunite sex, passion and love, capturing its quiet moments, the pauses in which intimacy raises its shy face."—the publisher.
