Patricia S. Levey's portfolio The Awakening
"The Awakening is a series of self-portraits shot in New Mexico over the past ten years. As the body is the container of the soul, buildings are containers of energy and light. The juxtaposition of my human flesh against these crumbling forms and textures to me represents life, death, and rebirth."

Patricia S. Levey's portfolio Taking Liberty
"Taking Liberty was inspired by a post 9/11 period of self-reflection. It is not a statement about war or religion but an open-ended question addressing issues of personal freedom and identity."—Patricia S. Levey

Historic Solar Flare Reaches Earth
One of the most powerful solar flares in over ten years erupted from giant sunspot 486 on Tuesday, Oct. 28th. Sunspot 486 is shown in the picture to the left as a large dark mass, left and below center. The coronagraph image (in blue) shows the coronal mass ejection (CME) from the sun (note that the sun's sphere is blocked out in this picture).
