Society for Photographic Education Conference
March 25-28

The 2004 Society for Photographic Education's 41st annual conference, "Photography And Place: Home-Neighborhood-Nation-World" will be taking place from March 25-28 in Newport, RI. Highlights include the keynote address by photographer Frank Gohlke and featured speaker Mark Sealy, Director of Britain's Autograph: The Association of Black Photographers. Honoree Jerome Liebling, one of the founding members of the Society for Photographic Education, will be introduced by his former student, the filmmaker Ken Burns. photo-eye booklist editor Darius Himes will take part in a panel, "Adventures in Photographic Book Publishing" on Friday March 26.

SPE is a national non-profit organization that seeks to promote a wider understanding of photography in all of its forms and to foster the development of its practice, teaching, scholarship, and critical analysis. The national headquarters are located at Miami University in Oxford, OH and the archives are at the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, AZ.
