Visit photo-eye at Photo New York October 14-17!
PHOTO NEW YORK 2004 will be held this week at the Metropolitan Pavilion, located at 125 W. 18th Street, and will feature contemporary photo-based work, as well as exceptional pieces from leading 19th and 20th century artists. Please come by and visit with Rixon Reed, photo-eye Director; Joslin Van Arsdale, Gallery Assistant Director; and Vicki Bohannon, Gallery Associate. Rixon will be taking part in The Evolution of Photography in Print, a panel discussion exploring contemporary photography book publishing, and its historical roots in the development of the photographic medium. "We are expecting a strong response for this exciting new event on both a local and international level from collectors, art enthusiasts and novices alike," says Stephen Cohen, owner of the Stephen Cohen Gallery and producer of PHOTO NEW YORK 2004. "With the wonderful line-up of exhibitors and art pieces to be featured at PHOTO NEW YORK 2004, we believe that the event will soon become touted as one of the most prestigious annual art events in the city."

Dick Sanders's portfolio The Portraits at Sam's Market
"With all my subjects, I take a mimimalist approach and ask only that they be serious and look into the lens. Eye contact is important because, later, viewers will make this same eye contact, and it is this intimate aspect of it that can be very powerful."—Dick Sanders
