Beniamino Terraneo's portfolio Lake's Diary
"On the shores of Lake Como Henry Fox Talbot wrote a series of reflections upon mechanical photo reproduction that were central to the origin of the medium. Starting from these studies, I decided to visit the same places that inspired the birth of photography and to photograph them using nineteenth century cameras and lens. These photos testify to many years of searching for those flashes of harmony in which all of the elements come together in an ideal balance."—Beniamino Terraneo |

Michel Hurst: Casa Susanna
"Some time ago, while at a New York flea market, inveterate collectors Michel Hurst and Robert Swope discovered a large body of snapshots: album after aged album of well-preserved images, taken roughly between the mid-50s and mid-60s, depicting a group of cross-dressers united around a place called Casa Susanna, a rather large and charmingly banal Victorian-style house in small-town New Jersey..."— the publisher READ MORE

Carrie Levy: 51 Months
"On her 16th birthday Carrie Levy was waiting at home in trepidation and hope for her father's return. He didn't make it. The courthouse had taken him, where he had been sentenced to four years in prison....when her father came home in March, 2000. She spoke to her father for 15 minutes about his crime. It has not been mentioned since. Four months later, in June, Carrie Levy closed the lid of the suitcase under her bed that contained the 500 images she had taken"—the publisher READ MORE

Lisa Kereszi Wins Baum Award for Emerging American Photographers
Lisa Kereszi has received the 2005 Baum Award for Emerging American Photographers. This prestigious award is presented to a promising American photographer who has not yet had a comprehensive one-person museum exhibition. It is the largest national award among grants available in photography, and is the only award in the United States to single out 'emerging' photographers for support.
Lisa R. Kereszi's gritty images of empty and abandoned spaces in and around New York create dramas from the remnants of people's lives and reveal her interest in fantasy, escape, glamour, and our failed attempts to achieve them. Her medium-format color photographs transform the mundane details of forlorn spaces into semi-abstract images of transcendent beauty. Kereszi's work has investigated such sites as an abandoned school on Governor's Island, a defunct Broadway arcade in Times Square, and the Spook-a-Rama haunted house on Coney Island.

photo-eye Booklist: 2005 Summer
photo-eye is pleased to announce the transformation of our quarterly Booklist into a 100% subscription-based magazine with a 4-issue price of only $20. The Booklist is handsomely designed and intelligently edited, with articles about photobook publishing, interviews with photographers and book makers, and, of course, our much anticipated survey of the best new photobooks from around the world. There is absolutely no other magazine like it.
Over a period of 25 years, the photo-eye Booklist grew from a single typewritten page in 1979, into a respected specialty book catalogue—must-reading for photobook lovers. The latest step in our evolution represents the culmination of several years of concerted editorial development, including more in-depth writing, new features of interest to collectors and photographers, and a summer 2004 re-design. We hope you enjoy our new magazine and support us in this exciting endeavor. Thank you for your help in making this publication a reality.
