Paper Forests: Trees of Our Time Opens September 23 at photo-eye Gallery
photo-eye Gallery, located at 370 Garcia Street in Santa Fe, is pleased to announce Paper Forests: Trees of Our Time, a group show exhibiting photographs by gallery and non-gallery artists. Show continues through November 26th.
Paper Forests examines the multiple perspectives in which photographers capture the presence, beauty and mystery of trees. These images invite a closer examination of our relationship to trees on both the physical and spiritual plane. While some address the issues of deforestation and sustainability, others subtly reflect the impact of trees on us both emotionally and psychologically.
Artists include, Debbie Fleming Caffery, Mark Citret, William Clift, Byung-Hun Min, Mona Kuhn, Pentti Sammallhati, Nick Brandt, Mark Klett, Laurie Tumer, Raymond Meeks, Keith Carter, Michael Kenna, Terri Weifenbach, Darius Himes, Carola Clift, Linda Connor, David Gibson, Mark Eshbaugh, Francis Baker, Peter Steinhauer, Jonathan Long, Keith Sharp, and Derek Mohr.

Gary Cawood's portfolio Night Patrol
"Night Patrol is a tour of the ordinary, the kind of places we experience without noticing. When making the rounds after dark, however, details emerge from the shadows that suggest a more mysterious existence, an unsettling sense that familiarity is just an illusion. It seems that photographs are the perfect vehicles for this kind of inspection. Through careful observation, scenes from the real world mingle with the imagination, like stage sets for a drama yet to be invented."—Gary Cawood |

photo-eye Booklist: 2005 Summer
photo-eye is pleased to announce the transformation of our quarterly Booklist into a 100% subscription-based magazine with a 4-issue price of only $20. The Booklist is handsomely designed and intelligently edited, with articles about photobook publishing, interviews with photographers and book makers, and, of course, our much anticipated survey of the best new photobooks from around the world. There is absolutely no other magazine like it.
Over a period of 25 years, the photo-eye Booklist grew from a single typewritten page in 1979, into a respected specialty book catalogue—must-reading for photobook lovers. The latest step in our evolution represents the culmination of several years of concerted editorial development, including more in-depth writing, new features of interest to collectors and photographers, and a summer 2004 re-design. We hope you enjoy our new magazine and support us in this exciting endeavor. Thank you for your help in making this publication a reality.
