The staff of photo-eye send our thoughts and prayers, along with our wishes for a speedy recovery, to gallery artist Kevin O'Connell, who is ill with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a rare malignant disease of the bone marrow. During an initial round of chemotherapy, Kevin will be dependent on blood transfusions. People can donate blood of any type in his name and it will be "banked" or credited against what he needs, as well as helping others. The local center in Denver, where he is undergoing chemo, is Bonfils Blood Center . If people are interested in becoming a marrow donor, the best way is to get on the National Registry at www.marrow.org. (The U.S. registry is tied to many international programs.)

Read Kevin's press release.

Two Portfolios by Thomas Michael Alleman: Sunshine & Noir: New York & Los Angeles
As I conclude my field work for this overlong project, and begin making large giclee prints on 24-inch watercolor paper, I hope this body of work will convey a cast-eyed, peripheral vision of my odd metropolis, like a meandering, minor-key tone-poem.—Thomas Michael Alleman
