Open for Bidding: Three Prints by W. Eugene Smith Open for Bidding: Three Prints by W. Eugene Smith
On the block in separate lots are two images from Smith's famed series on Japanese industry. In Hitachi Reminder, Japan: A Chapter of Image, published in 1963, Smith wrote, "I was 'taken in' (albeit warily) by the near constant feeling of humanity which somehow escaped being utterly 'big business,' and by workers who seemed not entirely the 'contractual enemies' of management."

A third print by Smith—a striking image of a hanging skull taken in New Mexico in 1947—is also on the block.
Bids shown below are current as of 5:38 pm MT, 05.03.2006
