Aside from his well-known portrait series, Man of the Twentieth Century, this lush Aperture production includes selections from the series Rhineland Landscapes, Nature Studies, Architectural and Industrial Photographs, and Images of Sardinia. As this book makes clear, Sander was assiduous in his documentation of the both the natural and built landscapes—especially of the Siebengebirge district in his native Rhineland—as he was in his recording of humanity.
Accompanied by a print, Landscape near Heisterback, 1935, produced from an original negative and signed by Gunter Sander. Print housed in a separate portfolio. |
