Robert Stivers and Eugenia Parry at photo-eye this Saturday
photo-eye and Twin Palms are pleased to host the booksigning for photographer, Robert Stivers and author Eugenia Parry at photo-eye Bookstore, 370 Garcia Street in Santa Fe, this Saturday, February 10th from 2 to 4pm. The artist will be displaying a few prints from this body of work. "Stivers takes us into alcoholic twilight. Shuddering exiles in watery purgatory, the human figures as well as forests, clouds, plants, works of art and even architecture seem never actually to have existed... Each photograph visualizes the anguished lament of the current that runs through him... All of this mirrors his dream books and journals, where the trials of actual experience and his mind's nocturnal dream machinery are indistinguishable. Stivers' pictures are figments of his material philosophy of escape." —Eugenia Parry from the essay Strange Comas

| Frederick Sommer: The Birth of Venus (Portfolio of 5 Gravures) The collages that these richly printed gravures reproduce are composed of anatomical fragments of engravings from 19th century medical and anatomical texts...These vibrant and dense miniature worlds are the product of Sommer's complex relation to the chance process and are, in many ways, a subtle refinement of his creative process. He considered this late collage work among the most important of his artistic legacies. |

Mona Kuhn: Evidence—Signed
"Critics have observed that Mona Kuhn's subjects seem 'nude but not naked. Completely relaxed before the camera, they give the impression that nothing could clothe them better than their own skin.' Kuhn, who photographs in the naturist or nudist community, often in domestic interiors, weaves together gestures from the traditional iconography of nude studies with the comfortable body language of her subjects, creating a visual patois at once classical and contemporary."—the publisher

Camille Solyagua: Collections 92-06
"While serving as an important review of the artist's work to date, Collections 92-06 functions beautifully as an artist's book of the highest order: quarterbound in Japanese cloth and dyed paper, the botanical specimens, photograms, jellyfish, birds, and 19th-century natural history specimens are woven together in a dream-like sequence that recalls curiosity cabinets of an earlier time."—the publisher

Ron Van Dongen: A. angustatum: One Picture Book
"Adding a subtle twist to his first One Picture Book, Rosa Ferreus, Ron van Dongen follows up with A. angustatum, a frame-by-frame recording of "Arisaema Angustatum, 2001" in its transition from a tender, unassuming shoot photographed in black-and-white to the mature arisaema shown right in all its glory."—the publisher

Michael Wesely: Open Shutter at the Museum of Modern Art
"In August 2001, drawing upon his earlier experiments with unusually long exposures, German photographer Michael Wesely installed specially
