Hiroshi Watanabe's portfolio Ideology in Paradise
"My photographs reflect both genuine interest in my subject as well as a respect for the element of serendipity. I strive for both calculation and discovery in my work, studying my subjects in preparation, while at the same keeping my mind open for the surprises."—Hiroshi Watanabe

"For years he's also been photographing creepy-crawlies, including spiders, snakes and jellyfish. What animal has inspired as much dread, as many legends, as much revulsion and terror as the snake? Among the 2,700 known species, few are dangerous, let alone lethal, to humans, but prejudices run deep."—the publisher READ MORE

Malick Sidibe: Chemises Malick Sidibe: Chemises
"Sidibé focused on the explosion of youth culture and music in 1960s Bamako, photographing all the happening events and ceremonies, including football matches, weddings, Christmas Eve celebrations and parties at clubs like Los Cubanos, Les Caïds, Les Las Vegas—names that convey the influx of western music into Mali. Visiting as many as five of these venues in one evening, Sidibé would capture Bamako's youth in a close-up snapshot style that conveys the joyful conviviality of this era, and the blending of African and western cultures in dances like the Mali Twist, and in curious combinations of traditional and European clothing."—the publisher READ MORE

Nan Goldin: Nan Goldin: The 2007 Hasselblad Award Nan Goldin: The 2007 Hasselblad Award
"The 2007 Hasselblad Award winner is Nan Goldin, easily one of the most significant photographers of our time. Adopting the direct aesthetics of snapshot photography, she has documented her own life and that of her friends and others on the margins of society for more than 30 years, offering frank depictions of drug abuse, cross-dressing and alternative sexualities. Her intimate photographs depict urban lives in New York and Europe in the 1970s, 80s and 90s, a period massively determined by HIV and AIDS. Her practice of photography as a memoir and as a defense against loss, and her use of the slide show to present her work, resonate increasingly in the work of photographers of recent generations."—the publisher READ MORE

Patrick O'Hare: Slipstream Patrick O'Hare: Slipstream—Signed

Signed copies arriving in about two to three weeks.

"Slipstream is a personal exploration of ravaged landscape glossed over and sealed by perpetual development and at the same time, more vulnerable than ever to man made and natural upheavals. It Visually lays open a culture of impermanence, architecture of the fleeting and the sense of a rootless world that could easily be swept away."—the publisher READ MORE

"Planet Shanghai - Shanghai-the legendary Pearl of the East, architectural powerhouse, and home to the World Expo 2010-continues to fascinate people from around the globe. Photographer Justin Guariglia, whose work has appeared in National Geographic Traveler and Smithsonian magazines, frequently trains his lens on the old town and waterfront which have retained their cultural character amid mega-booming development. Shanghai's open-air lifestyle, bustling markets, and curious fashion sense are all seen here, granting us a multifaceted and intimate portrait of day-to-day life in one of the great cities of the world. Takashi Homma: Tokyo Takashi Homma: Tokyo—Signed

Signed copies arriving in June.

"Since the advent of photography, certain cities have become inextricably intertwined with their depiction by great photographers: Eugène Atget in turn-of-the-century Paris; Berenice Abbott in 1930s New York; Ed Ruscha in late-60s Los Angeles. While Daido Moriyama documented the disaffection and dissipation of postwar Tokyo, Takashi Homma picks up the baton with a contemporary portrait of the modern-day metropolis that is both cinematic and complex. For over a decade, Homma has turned the neutral gaze of his lens toward Tokyo's suburban environs and urban center. As in all of his work, Homma's vision of Tokyo navigates a finely nuanced line between sterility and sentimentality, detachment and lusciousness, presenting a sleek, contemporary vision of a postmodern megalopolis populated by a new generation of video-game aficionados and fashionistas. While Homma has published extensively inside his native Japan, this is his first volume published for an international audience. Takashi Homma: Tokyo compiles selections from each of the artist?s six previously published titles on the city, including Tokyo Suburbia, his seminal work now considered a contemporary classic."—the publisher READ MORE
