Tom Chamber's new portfolio Marwari: Indigenous Spirits
"In my eyes horses represent that which is beautiful and sacred in nature.
In particular, the noble Marwari horses from India have captured my
attention. Known for their loyalty and bravery, the Marwari were
considered divine beings as far back as the twelfth century. Victimized by
difficult economic times, poor horse management, and global warming, the
Marwari horse population was decimated by the mid-1990's." — Tom Chambers

photo-eye Magazine Reviews
|
|
 © Deanna Templeton
|
This week in photo-eye's Magazine:
"Rome. Winter, early 21st century. Population, apparently near zero. At least that's the impression your get from the photographs South African Guy Tillim has assembled in Roma, Citta di Mezzo. Tillim does spot the occasional figure walking the wet, wintry streets. They are usually seen from behind and often hard to spot in the largely unremarkable urban landscapes." — from Charles Dee Mitchell's review of Guy Tillim's Roma, Citta Di Mezzo
"The book has the appearance of being carefully designed from the selection, sequencing and pairing of the photographs. There are some truly delightful and humorous pairings across the page spreads." — from Douglas Stockdale's review of Deanna Templeton's 17 Days
"Accompanying this wry volume's many accomplishments, Reiner Riedler deserves credit for reminding us that the United States does not monopolize the global marketplace for vicarious experiences available at cost."— from George Slade's review of Reiner Riedler's Fake Holidays
"Edward Hopper & Company is a beautiful book: elegant and restrained, intelligent as the exhibition it records. The exhibit, now closed, was a treat for the eye and the mind. If exhibitions can be said to have an aura, this one did, if a curious one."— from Richard Gordon's review of Edward Hopper & Company with an Introduction by Jeffrey Fraenkel and essay by Robert Adams.

|
This week's 365 Book A Day featured items are:
Love Me with photographs by Zed Nelson. "In this exquisitely produced book, the influential American photographer Robert Adams revisits the classic collection of nocturnal landscapes that he began making in the mid-1970s near his former home in Longmont, Colorado." - Regina-Maria Anzenberger

"In Transitional States Robert Polidori delivers a sublime photographic tract on architectural revisionism by charting the decades-long conservation project at Versailles."

In My Library
|
|
|
This week's In My Library selection is by Gallery Associate, Cliff Shapiro. Cliff selected Polaroids with photographs by Dash Snow.
"This first comprehensive survey of Dash Snow's Polaroid photography chronicles the artist's early marauding on Manhattan's Lower East Side and conveys Snow's love of the photograph as memento. The joy and abandon of hard partying are converted by his Polaroid camera into powerful images that embrace the transience of the euphoric moment." — the publisher
