Suburban Dreams by Beth Yarnelle Edwards
"No matter how many people appear in Beth Yarnelle Edwards' photographs, or how captivating the circumstances, the titles are simple — one or two names, a country or a state (California, a country of its own), and a year. There is one telling exception to the title rule, however, in a pair of pictures titled Home Theatre I from 2000 and Home Theatre II, 2005, in which we see a shot/reverse shot from both ends of a center aisle in a room full of fashionable recliners, video projection apparatus, and popcorn." — from the review of Suburban Dreams by George Slade

Animals Are Outside Today by Colleen Plumb
"My great-grandfather wrote two books titled Our Great Outdoors — one volume on reptiles, another on mammals. Thus it is in the spirit of family tradition that I feel I could, on occasion, as Whitman wrote, 'turn and live with the animals.' Given this fantasy of becoming a modern day St. Francis, it isn't surprising that I was immediately drawn to Colleen Plumb's monograph, Animals are Outside Today, published by Radius Books." — from the review of Animals are Outside Today by Ellen Rennard

photo-eye Gallery & Photographer's Showcase Artist Update: Photolucida's Critical Mass Top 50
Photolucida has released the list of 2011 Critical Mass Top 50 photographers and we are proud to report that two of our photo-eye Gallery artists ( Colette Campbell-Jones and Mitch Dobrowner) and seven of our Photographer's Showcase artists are on the list! You can see the full list here. (You may notice that there are actually 51 photographers listed — apparently there was a tie this year, and they chose to include both photographers.) An exhibition with an image from each photographer will be touring the West coast this spring. These photographers are now in the running to win the top prize — a book published by Photolucida. See books published by previous winners here.

Mark Steinmetz: Summertime—Signed
"Nazraeli Press is delighted to announce Mark Steinmetz's follow-up monograph to his classic trilogy South Central / South East / Greater Atlanta. Summertime is a series of portraits of kids and teenagers caught in the midst of activity in distinctly American settings. Made between 1984 and 1991, when kids and teenagers were able to roam their neighborhoods with less supervision than today, riding bikes without wearing helmets, and hanging out without constant digital interruptions, these black and white photographs capture the light and feel of an endless summer." — the publisher
About the Limited Edition

Richard Misrach: 1991—Signed
"Blind Spot Series 02: 1991 — The Oakland-Berkeley Fire Aftermath by Richard Misrach In October 1991, immediately following the catastrophic firestorm which struck the Oakland and Berkeley Hills, Richard Misrach (American, b. 1949), ventured into the fire zone with his 8 x 10-inch view camera. Misrach roamed the devastated area, recording both stark vistas and intimate details of destroyed homes. Out of respect for the victims of the fire — which killed twenty-five people, injured 150 others, and destroyed nearly three thousand homes — Misrach's images have remained mostly unexhibited for the last twenty years." —the publisher READ MORE
