Tom Chambers on A View From The Bridge, 2012
Tom Chambers' most recent photographic series has taken him to Italy where his signature dream-like photomontages were informed by the unique quality of light in the Tuscan region and engage in its metaphoric properties. In this post, Chambers shares with us a bit of the thought behind the final two images in the Illumination series.
"My Illumination series reflects my respect for the power of light in exposing possibilities. This series of photomontages developed after an awe-inspiring journey to Florence, and then a later visit to Venice. The Grand Canal of Venice is ordinarily bustling with the traffic of cargo boats, gondolas, traghetti, and vaporetti. View from the Bridge reveals a young woman in a solitary moment of the early morning stepping, into the light and new adventures." — Tom Chambers

The Aftermath's Project War Is Only Half The Story, Vol. 4
"War's daily tumult grabs the headlines. But captured land, troop maneuvers, casualties, felled statues, and prisoners of war are only a point on a continuum; the visible, newsworthy part is considerably less than half of the story. War arises from a mixture of accumulated intolerance and historic grievance, and that inherited burden has proven difficult to relieve or even redress with non-violent means. The tendency toward catharsis through conflict is deeply embedded in our species." — from George Slade's review of War Is Only Half The Story, Vol. 4 by The Aftermath Project

Antoine D'Agata: Position(s)
"I want that! That what?
That. But what?
That.
To be there, to be the strongest, to be here, getting through wholly, warding off nothing, devouring all, about all eating, before going back to the absolute void.
