Joyce
Tenneson
Join us for a book signing with the author today, Friday,
July 26th, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the photo-eye bookstore
in Santa Fe. Need directions?
Joyce
Tenneson is world-renowned for her ethereal, insightful
portraits that personify the divine feminine-portraits which
evoke both power and mystique. For Wise Women, her
newest volume of work, Tenneson traveled extensively around
the United States, photographing women who are over 65 years
old, in a conscious effort to dispel the myth that growing
older is a time of decline.
The Today Show is scheduled to host Tenneson for a
six-part series on Wise Women this Fall. Tune in for
another perspective of her work.

Tenneson: Au-Delà
"I feel very strongly that the work I do is real and
in an important sense of that word... Often I feel a little
like I'm on the other side of the looking glass, like Alice
in Wonderland. She crosses the threshold between the conscious
and the unconscious. She explores that world. I think that's
what is fascinating to me too. Opening up that door to what's
beyond. . .In the end, as many artists, it's my soul that's
on view."—Joyce Tenneson.

When I arrived in Havana, I was presented the city: The ocean
landscapes, the historic buildings, the vintage automobiles,
in short the Cuba of Hemingway. This is the scenery that Cuban
officials present for foreign pallets. In a single house of
transgender and transsexual prostitutes this other story began
to unfold. By digging deeper, I began to see the real financial
status of this country and the lengths to which its people
will go to survive.

Portfolio: Ellen Von Unwerth
"In just a few short years, this Bavarian-born ex-model
has captured the attention of the fashion world. Ubiquitous,
bold, and imaginative, her work features the faces and bodies
of today's top models and celebrities, and gives her famous
male counterparts, such as Helmut Newton and Peter Lindbergh,
a run for their money. What makes a von Unwerth photo? Sex,
fun, sex, daring, sex, theater, and yes, more sex."

Jean-François
Jonvelle: Jonvelle(s)
This is an excellent, affordable collection of images by
French fashion photographer Jean-François Jonvelle.
His photographs are deceptively sweet and sensual, but filled
with a rich eroticism. Many of Jonvelle's images have been
used in major advertising campaigns in France.
