Kerry Skarbakka's portfolio The Struggle to Right Oneself
"Heidegger described human existence as a process of perpetual falling, and it is the responsibility of each individual to 'catch ourselves' from our own uncertainty. My work is in response to this delicate state. It questions what it means to resist the struggle, to simply let go, and the consequences of holding on. The images stand as reminders that we are all vulnerable to losing our footing and grasp, symbolizing the precarious balancing act between the struggle against our desire to survive and our fantasy to transcend our humanness."—Kerry Skarbakka

Daido Moriyama: Farewell Photography
No prints or negatives exist for the material represented in the original Farewell Photography, so this reprint was produced using a copy of the original book as source material. Larger than the original (and with no text whatsoever), this version emphasizes even more strongly Moriyama's frenetic, dynamic approach to image making. More than simply a reprint of a classic of Japanese photography, this is a reinterpretation. READ MORE

David Newsom: Skip
"David Newsom's SKIP is a moving and highly personal view of the landscape his older brother Lloyd (Skip) Curtis Newsom, Jr. inhabits. The images in this book, tender as they are austere, not only bear witness to the photographer's appreciation for the natural beauty of a particular corner in South-Eastern Idaho, but also represent his sincere attempt to see that place as his beloved brother does."—the publisher READ MORE

Boogie: It's All Good
"A gritty, graphic, and gripping exposé of the underworld and its inhabitants, It's All Good, the first monograph by Boogie, presents the predators and the prey in the drug game today. Shot in New York City's most notorious neighborhoods — Bushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Queensbridge — Boogie gained intimate access into a world few dare to venture, a world closed to outsiders, a world of crackheads, junkies, and gangsters. From the cops patrolling the project roofs to the addicts overdosing on the streets, It's All Good chronicles ghetto life in stark, heart-stopping images and intense testimonials."—the publisher READ MORE

Chris Shaw: Life As a Night Porter
"Chris Shaw spent ten years working in London hotels, all-the-while
using his camera to both document the hotels' unexpected human
spectacles and keep himself awake though the long hours of his shift.
Whether capturing prostitutes waiting between "Johns," weary hotel
staff, the inebriated and profligate guests, or the details of the
hotels' faded grandeur, Shaw's images transcend the physical boundaries
of a place, and instead capture a state of mind in which few
people would choose to stay more than a night.

Michael Kenna: Hokkaido
"The Northern Japanese island of Hokkaido has abundant natural forests, clear lakes, and magnificent mountains. It is perhaps best known for its intense and brutal winters. Snow and ice make many parts of the island inaccessible and the local Sea of Okhotsk routinely freezes over. Kenna has been photographing throughout Hokkaido, in these extreme conditions, for the past several years. The resulting monograph, Hokkaido, is bound in thin maple wooden boards and housed in a special slipcase."—the publisher READ MORE
