| Shomei Tomatsu: 2 scarce 1950s books
Two very scarce books that contain some of Tomatsu's earliest published work. After getting his start by sending pictures to Camera magazine, whose submissions were judged by Ken Domon, Tomatsu joined the production staff at Iwanami Photography Library, where he supplied photos for these two small books. In both subject matter and style, Tomatsu follows—sometimes more closely than others—Domon's strictures regarding the photographer's imperative to legibly represent contemporary life in post-war Japan.—reference, Anne Wilkes Tucker, et.al.,The History of Japanese Photography.
