Tom Chambers and Hiroshi Watanabe opening on July 13, 2007, 5-7 pm
photo-eye Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of our summer show, Tom Chambers and Hiroshi Watanabe. This opening coincides with the opening night of the PhotoArts Santa Fe Biennial Photography Festival.
We are excited to show Hiroshi Watanabe's new color work from North Korea, as well as a selection of black and white images from all over the world. Though the locales are quite different, there is a consistent romantic vision that runs deeply throughout his photographs. His pictures are stunningly beautiful and reflect his desire to capture the essence of people and places.
Tom Chambers creates fantastic, imagined scenes to reveal his personal vision about the nature of and interactions between children and animals. These images illustrate the fleeting moments of childhood that can't normally be captured by a traditional camera or seen by the naked eye.
Both artists will be attending the Artist Reception on Friday, July 13th from 5-7 PM at our Santa Fe Gallery (376 Garcia Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501). The closing date of this show will be September 8, 2007.
View all books by Hiroshi Watanabe.
Also on display, works by Julie Blackmon and Kerry Skarbakka.
For more information about this exhibit, please email Anne Kelly or Heather Prichard.

"While photographing, the world gets quiet around me... things seem simple again and I obtain a respect and reverence for the world that is hard to communicate through words. I get into a 'zone' where time and space seem hard for me to measure."—Mitch Dobrowner

Richard Misrach: On the Beach—Signed
Due September. Pre-order now!
"At 20 x 16 inches, On the Beach is the largest book ever published by Aperture, and also the first major publication of new work by Misrach in many years. It accompanies a major touring exhibition, with stops in Chicago, Honolulu, Seattle and at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.-a venue that very rarely shows the work of living artists."—the publisher

Eduardo Del Valle: Between Runs—Signed
"During a five-day stay in Dongguan to oversee the production of their previous title, Fried Waters, del Valle and Gomez made good use of their down time to produce an insightful body of work that combines elements of traditional Chinese scroll paintings, theatrical backdrops and modern graffiti; all found objects within the sprawling grounds of the printing plant.
Between Runs is printed in a limited edition of 500 numbered and signed copies, each with an original Type C photograph, printed by the artists and tipped-in on the back page."—the publisher READ MORE

Nicolai Howalt: Boxer
"These before-and-after pictures reveal in a rather spectacular way the physical impact on the boys' faces after their fights. But even more astonishing is seeing the direct emotional evidence that childhood innocence has just ended."—Rixon Reed, Spring 2007 photo-eye Booklist
