Karl Blossfeldt's Urformen der Kunst
Karl Blossfeldt (1865 - 1932) was a German photographer, sculptor and teacher who worked in Berlin, Germany, at the turn of the century. Blossfeldt worked with a camera of his own design which allowed him to magnify subjects up to 30 times their original size. He spent much of his life devoted to the study of nature. In his career of more than 30 years, he photographed nothing but plants, or rather, sections of plants. In many of his photographs, he would zoom in so close to a plant that it was no longer recognizable as such. Blossfeldt's botanical photographs were first exhibited at Berlin's Gallery Nierendorf in 1926 and were subsequently published in several illustrated magazines and books on architecture and design theory. His success was followed by another exhibition at the Bauhaus in Dessau in 1929. Blossfeldt retired from teaching in 1930 and passed away in 1932.
We're pleased to offer a group of gravure plates from the classic Blossfeldt books at inexpensive prices. There may be an additional charge for matting the prints. Please inquire.

Marialuisa Morando's portfolio White, Series 1
"Our lives are defined by moments. Our memories are a series of moments that capture our lives and frame the emotions that surround them. The emotions are fluid, but the moments are both singular and eternal.
These timeless photographs capture a series of moments and allow the viewer to explore the emotions that ebb and flow with them."—Marialusia Morando

| Daido Moriyama: Kagerou (Dayfly)--Signed! Moriyama's scarce fourth book features some of his most compelling nudes—many in bondage scenes—ever published. While similar in theme to much of Araki's work, the figures in these photos are removed from their context in the red-light districts of Tokyo and set against earthy, organic backgrounds. The images are somewhat grounded by a section in the center of the book that reproduces contact sheets showing images from the shoots. A rare Moriyama item!

Joel Tettamanti: Local Studies
"Within the arts, the question of place has been a matter of some discussion over the last several years. As a concept it reflects the larger issues of expanding cultural colonialism and globalization. Swiss Photographer Joel Tettamanti's book Local Studies directly engages these issues and contextualizes his work within a larger frame. The book takes the form of an autobiographical glossary, addressing a host of issues with concise and intelligent paragraphs that are inter-referential and alphabetically organized.
The photographs presented are from multiple, connected bodies of work made around the world, each addressing a specific locality. Together with the text they become the documents of Tettamanti's personal exploration of the idea of place, through his attempts to represent the particularities of each local world. The inclusion of portraits on a slightly glossier, lighter and smaller stock is an effective, if perhaps accidental, commentary on the relation humans have to the larger environment. Theory aside, the aesthetics of the book are quite effective and the photographs are a pleasure to view."
