Charity Vargas's portfolio The Presidio at Night
"Since 1988 the Federal Government through its Base Realignment and Closure program (BRAC) closed 22 of California's military installations, almost a quarter of base closures nationwide. The government sold the land to municipalities and developers. Former bases have been redeveloped into suburban housing tracts, business parks, airports, and colleges; others sit vacant and polluted awaiting reuse. Arguably the most successful of these transformations is the Presidio of San Francisco."—Charity Vargas

| Berenice Abbott: Changing New York (In Scarce Dustjacket) "How shall the two-dimensional print in black and white suggest the flux of activity of the metropolis, the interaction of human beings and solid architectural constructions, all impinging upon each other in time?"—Berenice Abbott, from an introduction to "Outline for Photographing New York City," quoted in Bonnie Yochelson,"A Fantastic Passion for New York"

Steven Cantor: What Remains: The Life and Work of Sally Mann
Copies arriving in about one week.
"What Remains—Mann's recent series on the myriad aspects of death and decay—is the subject of this eponymously titled documentary.
Filmed at her Virginia farm, Mann is surrounded by her husband and now-grown children, and her willingness to reveal her artistic process allows the viewer to gain exclusive entrance to her world. Never one to compromise, she reflects on her own personal feelings about mortality as she continues to examine the boundaries of contemporary art. Spanning five years, What Remains contains unbridled access to the many stages of Mann's work, and is a rare glimpse of an eloquent and brilliant artist."—the publisher

Raymond Meeks: A Clearing—Signed
The first printing of this gorgeously-produced artist's book is limited to 500 numbered and signed copies, each with an original print on the back cover.
Due May. Preorder now.
"Whereas his earlier book, Sound of Summer Running, invited us inward, into the expressive interiors of family and place, A Clearing presents us with a world that averts its face, a world we haven't yet learned to read, where meaning still seems to be gathering itself, where verticality is a sign of defiance. Figures in the landscape appear so isolated, they take on mythic force. The sky is resistant as eyes turned back in a head. Meeks's camera records the naked geological and human assertion of presence against the flattening insistence of time, erosion, and poverty."—the publisher

David Maisel: Library of Dust—Signed
Signed copies due in August. Preorder now.
"Esteemed photographer David Maisel has created a somber
and beautiful series of images depicting canisters containing
the cremated remains of the unclaimed dead from an
Oregon psychiatric hospital. Dating back as far as the nineteenth
century, these canisters have undergone chemical
reactions, causing extravagant blooms of brilliant white,
green, and blue corrosion, revealing unexpected beauty
in the most unlikely of places."—the publisher

"An ecological warning, penetrating and poetic, this book brings wonderful images. With the drive of a missionary, photographer Valdir Cruz — who was born in the state of Paraná, in the south of Brazil, and has been living in New York for 25 years — put a great effort into registering about 120 waterfalls in his homeland, solely at dawn and nightfall."—the publisher READ MORE
