Doisneau's photographic children's book contains twelve full-page gravure plates. Each plate is an image depicting a corresponding number of objects; for example, two kittens in shoes, five large snails lined up in a shallow ditch, seven acrobats forming a human pyramid, nine round hats on people below the Eiffel Tower, twelve eggs laid out in the grass. Both the French and the American edition are scarce.
Fair-; two inch tears to plates 8 and 9; one inch tear to plate 6 and 7 (near spine); binding starting, but holding; edge wear and damp-staining to cover images.
