Nos Amies Les Bêtes. Photographs by André Kertész. Text by Jaboune. Éditions D'Histoire et D'Art, Librairie Plon, Paris, 1936. Unpaged. First edition. Stiff photo-illustrated wrappers. Gravure reproductions.

An early and quite scarce Kertész title. As Parr and Badger explain, publishers during this period often gave photographers producing children's books more creative freedom than they would have received when they were producing books for an adult audience with more rigid expectations. Kertész's photos of animals are witty and full of warmth, but never cloying. An exemplary modernist children's book!

Very Good; hinge starting; light foxing; 2 1/2" tear to front wrapper at joint.
