Schönheit im Olympischen Kampf. Photographs by Leni Riefenstahl. Im Deutschen Verlag, Berlin, 1937. Folio. Second edition. SIGNED on preliminary page. Orange cloth stamped in gilt. Photo-illustrated dust jacket. Library protector. Numerous gravure plates. Captions in German, French, English, Spanish, and Italian.

Writing in The Book of 101 Books, David Levi Strauss says of this book, "These are such exquisite, transcendentally beautiful images of athletes, that one almost forgets their context." Schönheit im Olympischen Kampf is taken from stills taken during the making of Riefenstahl's film Olympia, for which over 400,000 meters of film were shot. Along with Triumph of the Will, Riefenstahl's work recording the 1936 Olympics, remains one of the most crucial documents for our understanding of Nazi culture.

Fine-; Faint mark to front board; moderate wear to 'tips'.
