Pleasures and Terrors. Photographs by Aaron Siskind. Text by Carl Chiarenza. Foreword by James L. Enyeart. New York Graphic Society/Little, Brown, and Co., Boston in association with Center for Creative Photography, 1982. 283 pp. First edition. Quarto. Photo-illustrated dust jacket. 74 duotone and 198 halftone reproductions.

This beautiful retrospective monograph and biography does justice to Siskind's career as a photographer of the abstract, which paralleled the development of the abstract expressionists, as well as his earlier imagery of Harlem, his levitation series, the Bucks County essay, and many lesser-known photographs. Chiarenza wrote a beautiful and highly informative account of the life of this great photographer and teacher.

Light rubbing to dust jacket and wear to board corners; otherwise Fine-/Fine-.
