Between 1960 and 1964, Klein published three of his masterful city-themed photobooks, Rome, Moscow and Tokyo. Restless as he is, he found the time to travel to Africa to photograph the independence celebrations in the west African nation of Senegal in 1963. While there, he captured the exuberance of these young children as they burst forth from school.
