Suburbia. Photographs by Bill Owens. Straight Arrow Books, San Francisco, 1974. Unpaged. Straight Arrow Books, San Francisco, 1973. 108 pp. Quarto. Scarce first edition, published in only 250 copies. Hardbound in green cloth and slipcase; no dust jacket as issued*. Black-and-white reproductions printed by Rapoport.
NOTE: References to this edition invariably refer to a ltd. ed. of 250, though it is nowhere stated in the book itself.

Owens spent two years photographing in three suburban communities in northern California. His photographs show the lives of people in pursuit of The American Dream: home ownership, a family life, material possessions, and a sense of safety and self-satisfaction. Ironically, the composite picture of the lifestyle shown is one that is not particularly appealing. Included in Roth, et. al., The Book of 101 Books.

Fine in Fine- slipcase that shows just a bit of scuffing at 'tips'.
