"This book which appeared in 1943 in an edition of 10,000 was outstanding in the history of antifascist literature, as Debra Caplow has noted in a recent study. It contained perhaps the first image outside of Europe of the Holocaust, a chilling image of deportation to the concentration camps, and one of the first portraits outside of Italy of the Marxist thinker Antonio Gramsci, a victim of fascism political repression. By Leopold Mendez, perhaps the finest printmaker in the History of Mexico. This stirring antifascist tract contained thirty-two prints of members of the TGP, plus other artworks by Käthe Kollwitz, John Heartfield and William Gropper. It was carefully managed by the left-wing German emigré publisher Hannes Meyer at El Libro Libre Press, while being underwritten by the President of Mexico, Manuel Avila Carmacho"-- David Craven, Art and Revolution in Latin America, 1910-1990.

"Much has been written about the Nazis, but this book provides the Spanish-speaking public with a description of the foundations of Nazism in its most ruthless application, both within Germany and other countries. It is the work of writers--some world famous--politicians, teachers academics, diplomats, priests and pastors, journalists and activists social who escaped from the clutches of Nazism...Each of the authors has witnessed somewhere in Europe, from Spain to the fields of the steppes and forests of Russia, how Nazism unleashed on men, institutions, and peoples"--loosely translated from the introduction.
