Praha Objectivem Mistru. Panorama, Praha, 1983. First edition. Quarto. Cloth with graphic design in photo-illustrated dustjacket. 248 pp.
An outstanding anthology of twentieth century Czech photography, with sections on the work of Jaromir Funke, Drahomir Ruzicka, Jan Lauschmann, Josef Sudek, Eugen Wiskovsky, Jiri Jenicek, Tibor Honty, Karel Plicka, Josef Ehm, Zdenko Feyfar, and others. Czechoslovakia, located in the heart of Europe, became a fertile cultural center between the wars; the creative spirit that infused the photographic community was reflected first in poetic pictorialism and then in more experimental styles. All of the work is beautifully printed in black-and-white, with the exception of the color work of Ladislav Sitensky.
A fine copy; a slight bump to bottom outer corner, slightly affecting the pages; excellent dustjacket with minor rubbing at top of spine and corners. |
