Lines of My Hand. Robert Frank. Pantheon Books, New York, 1989. First edition thus; revised. Large quarto. Illustrated white boards. Unpaged.
First published in America by Lustrum Press in 1972, this is Frank's most personal book. From the opening: "I am looking back into a world now gone forever. Thinking of a time that will never return. A book of photographs is looking back at me. Twenty-five years of looking for the right road. Post cards from everywhere. If there are any answers I have lost them." Included are photographs of his family and friends, his early days in New York in the forties, time spent in Paris, Spain, London and Wales, his return to the United States in the mid-fifties, his filmwork, and his later seventies images.
A fine copy; only slight rubbing to the tips of the outer corners. |
