Two issues of Aperture devoted to the life and work of Josef Sudek whose fruitful career spanned sixty-five years. The first looks at the first half of Sudek's extraordinary life, and introduces some of the dramatic cycles that earned him the title "Poet of Prague." The second (shown) encompasses the later part of his life during which he made sweeping panoramas, lyrical garden images, and experiments in surrealistic studies.
