Between 1948 and 1976 Ansel Adams produced seven limited edition portfolios of his original photographs. Each portfolio contained between ten and fifteen images, including many of his classic landscapes. This book, showing the photographs from each portfolio in sequence, was an important contribution to the study of Adams' work. It was first published in 1977, and then " in 1981 it was decided that to take advantage of new printing technology and also to have the book redesigned. In this new printing, the typography from the introductory texts of the original portfolios has been faithfully reproduced. In addition, new laser-scanned separations have been made of all the images to guarantee the best possible reproduction of the photographs. Ansel Adams was personally on press to supervise this new printing." [From the dustjacket.] |
