Brassai. Essays by Henry Miller and Brassai. Notes by Brassai. Editions Neuf, Paris, 1952. First edition. Quarto. Red cloth with mounted photographic portrait of Brassai on cover.
A handsome and scarce book with an appealing mise-en-page, illustrated with halftones of Brassai's photographs, drawings, and sculptures. Brassai was born in Hungary, and began photographing at the encouragement of his friend Andre Kertesz. He met Henry Miller when he moved to Paris in the twenties, and it was Miller who famously named him 'the eye of Paris.' This volume includes a well-chosen selection of his early images.
A fine copy; a few small adhesion spots close to spine on two images.
