Chile. Photographs by Robert Gerstmann. Braun & Cie, Editeurs, Paris, 1932. First edition. Large thick quarto. Photo-illustrated dustjacket over card. 66 pp. text + 280 green-toned gravure plates by Gerstmann.
An artistic and substantial photographic study of Chile, concentrating on the landscape, but including images of towns, industry, and people. Beautifully printed in gravure by the noted French printer Braun & Cie.
A very good copy, with some light staining and spotting on back cover and pale discoloration at very top and bottom of spine. Center vertical crease in thick spine from opening the (heavy) book. The fold-out map of Chile at the rear has been hinged in with unobtrusive tape and has two tears in one side. The pages and plates are fresh and clean. |
